Glamorous black tie wedding at Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland

When Breada and Christian got in touch with us to capture their glamorous black tie wedding at Luttrellstown Castle Resort outside of Dublin, Ireland we couldn’t have been more excited. Dublin is a city we truly love, having met there when we were students in a photography club. It felt like kismet to be going back to capture a wedding there for this lovely pair. Their day would be a celebration of Breada’s Irish heritage, with a destination wedding attended by all of their family and friends from the USA and around the world. The elegant, minimal colour palette of white flowers and greenery paired perfectly with the stunning castle backdrop, created the most elegant ceremony and reception space.

They wanted to wow their guests — and boy did they, with welcome drinks the night before in a classic Dublin pub, as well as fireworks on the night. Breada’s family also surprised her with traditional Irish dancers during the reception — seeing her reaction and her joining in was priceless! Their guests joined the celebration, with one of the liveliest wedding receptions we’ve captured. What a joy —and what craic this destination wedding in Dublin was!

Breada and Christian got ready at the Shelbourne Dublin. Set on St Stephen’s Green in the heart of Dublin, it’s a truly glorious hotel. They were both surrounded by their friends and family in the morning.

What an absolutely fun and supportive group of women Breada had with her as she got ready. And naturally their matching PJs had to be green in a nod to Ireland!

Breada choose to wear this elegant slip dress to Luttrellstown Castle, so that she could change into her wedding gown at the castle. Once hair and makeup were done, everyone travelled to the venue in a coach thoughtfully arranged by the couple, while Breada took a separate car with her father.

In a nod to his heritage, Christian’s bow tie was an artisan feather bowtie from Brackish. We loved how his patent leather trainers added the perfect casual cool to his look.

The approach to Luttrellstown Castle is simply breathtaking — their guests were wowed on arrival. And Luttrellstown Castle made sure to add personal touches for them, like flying their university flags next to the Irish flag.

Luttrellstown Castle is simply stunning. While the exact date the castle was built is unknown, parts of it date back to the 13th century. Today, it’s interiors are luxurious and elegant. It’s no wonder this venue remains popular with celebrities and royalty. It’s also been the backdrop of another elegant wedding — Victoria and David Beckham tied the knot here back in 1999.

Breada and Christian held their ceremony outside, off the terrace of the castle. Their elegant white and greenery colour palette let the setting shine.

Breada arrived in style with her father in a vintage car. She went up to the Aileen Plunket suite to finish getting dressed with her bridesmaids and mom.

A little pre-wedding dance and photo shoot in the incredible tub! To us this portrait just captures how playful and fun Breada is.

What a stunning bride!

A moment of levity before the ceremony with Breada’s flower girl and niece. I asked her if she was nervous and she cheekily replied ‘This isn’t my first time as a flower girl.’

Breada’s mom and Christian’s step-mom walked hand-in-hand down the red carpet.

Their wedding service was officiated by Christian’s uncle and was full of personal touches, like a reading from her sister.

Breada forgot to bring her vows — but fortunately her sister was able to save the day and found her copy.

Both of their vows were perfect — both sweet, funny and touching.

After the wedding ceremony, we took group portraits with the couple and bridal party and their families.

The flower girl and ring bearer found the group portraits a bit dull — they were ready to go back to the cocktail hour!

This family portrait combines both Breada and Christian’s families together — it’s one of those portraits that will last them a lifetime.

After the group portraits were done, we whisked them off around the grounds for a quick couple portrait session before returning them to their guests and cocktail hour. We love these moments where our couples get to reflect on the ceremony together before joining their family and friends to celebrate.

A truly stunning setting for cocktails — and the perfect place for a bit of fun for the flower girl and ring bearer!

Breada and Christian used the front page from the Irish Times as a guestbook. Their guests were also naturally treated to whiskey and Guinness.

Breada’s brother played bagpipes to announce the couple’s entrance into the Van Stry Ballroom.

Between courses, we took the couple out for some evening portraits. Although it was an overcast day, the soft evening light was just perfect. Our couples always tell us they love these short evening portrait sessions as they give them quiet time to soak all of the day’s love and excitement in.

We’ve said it a million times, but we simply love a joint couple speech — it’s such a lovely first act to take together.

After speeches finished, Breada’s parents and Christian surprised Breada and their guests with traditional Irish Ceili dancers. Breada and her sisters grew up doing Irish dancing — and when the dancers invited them to join in, they didn’t hesitate. They had their guests on their feet clapping along.

This showstopper of a cake by Sugar Plum Bakes was modelled on the textures of the Great Conservatory. It stood like a work of art among the cacti.

To top it all off, Breada and Christian had also planned a surprise fireworks display for their guests. What a perfect way to end the dinner and transition into their wedding party.

The wedding moved into the Kentian Room for dancing and drinks. Christian and Breada had a fabulous first dance, followed by a father-daughter dance before the party went into full swing.

Breada made a quick outfit change, swapping to this stunning sequin number, perfect for dancing.

What a day, and what an honour to capture it. We wish you both all the very best!
